| Why is Finding and Expressing Peace Important? All one has to do is to look at or listen to the news. There is conflict, competition, pain, anger and injustice everywhere. We experience what we think of as "random" sickness and conflict, both on an individual and global scale. What is just as painful - listen to and observer one's own thoughts, words and actions. Some them are kind, generous, loving. And some of them are competitive, vicious, demeaning, fearful and hurtful. In short - we who are in the world have both some of the problem and some of the "cure" within each of us. And each of us can only decide to get well ourselves, even if we don't know how. I do believe, however, that the Power of a benevolent Providence (our "Father," or our "Parent," to use helpful, albeit inadequate conceptions) is built into us, waiting to be accessed. And access that Power we MUST, if we are ever to find joy and peace and serve as positive sources of compassion and appreciation for the world (and for ourselves). "As you seek, so shall you find." In other words, the joy is already there within us - it is our job to identify the barriers to love, compassion and joy within us and to relinquish them to the care of the Indwelling Spirit (known by different terms in different cultures). |
